The Quiet Art of Folding Fitted Sheets

Folding a fitted sheet often ends in a crumpled bundle. The elastic corners resist neat alignment, and the result rarely resembles a rectangle. Yet the task itself is simple: a series of tucks and turns that can be repeated without hurry.

One approach is to lay the sheet flat, then fold it in half so the corners meet. Tuck one corner into another, then repeat. The shape becomes more manageable, though not perfect. A second fold lengthwise, then a third crosswise, produces a compact packet.

Perfection is not required. The sheet will be unfolded again, after all. What matters is the rhythm of the motion and the small satisfaction of a shelf that looks slightly more ordered than before.

If the result remains lumpy, that is fine. The linen closet tolerates imperfection. The point is not to conquer the sheet but to spend a few minutes in quiet, deliberate action.
