7.2 km this morning along the canal, 6:14 start, average pace 5:48 per kilometre. Exactly what the plan called for.
Session log:
The left calf was tight from the first kilometre through the third. Not sharp — just present, that low pull I've learned to take seriously since March. I stopped twice at the lock to do a slow calf raise against the wall. It helped enough that I finished without adjusting the pace, and by the time I reached the bridge it had mostly settled. I'll keep an eye on it. A tight calf that gets ignored becomes a short Achilles, and I've been down that road before.
Resting HR this morning was 52 bpm, two beats above my monthly average. Small number, but worth noting alongside the sleep: six hours twenty last night, six forty on Saturday, six fifty on Friday. Three consecutive nights under seven. The maths is simple enough — a training load of four to six sessions a week requires more than six hours of sleep to absorb, and right now I'm not giving it enough. Autumn term has a way of making the evenings very short. Parent-teacher meetings stacked at the end of last week didn't help. The week ahead looks calmer, so there's no excuse not to bank it now.
Weight: 63.4 kg. Steady across the last ten days, which is fine. Porridge before the run, soup at lunch, rice and fish this evening. Two coffees — the proper one before I left the house, a second at half eleven when I walked past the staffroom and the smell made the decision for me. I'm recording it, not apologising for it.
Tomorrow is a strength session. Short — 35 minutes, four compound movements, nothing adventurous. But I'd rather do it at 80 percent and rested than at 100 and dragging. One change: bedtime moves to 9:30 tonight, not 10:15.
