Ever notice how some days you can barely decide what to eat for lunch, let alone make important choices? That's decision fatigue, and it's completely real.

Your brain makes thousands of decisions daily—from hitting snooze to choosing which email to answer first. Each one depletes your mental energy, even the tiny ones. By afternoon, you're exhausted before you've done anything that feels "productive."

The solution isn't becoming a productivity machine. It's reducing the number of decisions you need to make in the first place.

Start with your mornings. Pick out clothes the night before. Eat the same breakfast a few days in a row. Create a simple routine that requires zero thought. This isn't about being boring—it's about saving your decision-making energy for things that actually matter to you.

Batch similar decisions together. If you need to respond to messages, do them all at once rather than scattered throughout the day. Planning meals? Do it once for the whole week, not every single morning. The goal is to reduce the constant switching.

Accept that "good enough" is often perfect. Not every choice deserves deep analysis. The difference between two viable options is usually smaller than the energy spent agonizing over them. Sometimes you just need to pick one and move forward.

Know your peak hours. Make important decisions when your mental energy is highest—usually morning for most people, but you know yourself best. Save the low-stakes stuff for when you're running on fumes.

And here's the thing nobody talks about: some days you'll still feel depleted, and that's okay. This isn't about optimizing every moment. It's about making life a bit easier when you can.

Small systems, built slowly, create space for the decisions that deserve your full attention. That's not laziness—that's being intentional about where your energy goes.
