What does it mean to finish something?
I've been sitting with this question all morning, watching the last of my coffee grow cold. There's a particular stillness that comes on Sunday — a sense that the week has finally exhaled — and today it made me think about endings, not in the dramatic sense, but in the small everyday sense. The book you close. The conversation that winds down. The project you finally mark done.
We tend to celebrate endings as achievements. Finished feels like a reward, a clean resolution. But I wonder if we've been slightly dishonest with ourselves about what finishing actually is.
